Stafford Town Dragons

Stafford Town Dragons consist of 3 special needs teams. Under 14, Under 17 and adult squad. Since the start 6 months ago, it has grown in numbers, this season sees 2 adult teams, Under 16 squad and Under 12 team.

Stafford Dragons took 3 teams to the monthly Staffordshire FA Ability Counts League for disabled football players. This tournament was at Longton Rugby club with kick of at 1PM Sunday 25th October. As other teams could not field full squads Stafford agreed to mixed age play in the under 16's matches which resulted in Stafford reforming to Stafford A and Stafford B teams. The results were as follows, Stafford A 2 - Whittington 0, Stafford B 2 - Able Too 0, Stafford A 0 - Stafford B 1, Stafford B 0 - Whittington 2 and Stafford A 1 - Able Too 1. In the adults games the scores were, Stafford 1 - Port Vale 2, Stafford 2 Able 2 A 4 and Stafford 0 Able 2 B 4 For details of next tournament or training nights please contact Jon Binns 01785 665232." FA Ability Counts League at Longton Rugby Club Tournament Longton Rugby club hosted the first Staffordshire Ability Counts football league today for footballers with special needs. Stafford Dragons fielded 1 team in the adults 7 a side tournament. Their results were Stafford Adults 0 Able Too A 2, Stafford Adults 0 Able Too B 2 and Stafford Adults 1 Port Vale 8. The junior Stafford Dragons were to play a team in the under 12's and under 16's tournaments. Due to poor turnout Stafford agreed to play 2 junior teams of mixed ages as Stafford A and Stafford B in 6 a side games. The results for Stafford A were, Stafford A 4 Stafford B 3, Stafford A 3 Able Too 1 and Stafford A 4 Whittington 1. For Stafford B the results were Stafford B 3 Stafford A4, Stafford B 2 Whittington 4 and Stafford B 1 Able Too 4. Stafford Dragons juniors showed great improvements on last season. Staffordshire Ability Counts League The January round of the FA sponsored Staffordshire Ability Counts Football League took place on Sunday 25th at Longton Rugby Club and was thoroughly enjoyed by players and spectators alike. Stafford Town Dragons (The disability section of Stafford Town FC) fielded a team in each of the sections ( Under 14, Under 17 and Adults) and played against teams from Bloxwich Football Club, Able Too United (Burton upon Trent), Whittington and Stoke City Football Club. Play kicked off at 12.30 and there followed 4 hours of enjoyable football with each team playing up to 5 games of 20 minutes each. Particular mention should go to Stafford Dragons Mens team, who have worked very hard in training and were rewarded with wins in all their matches.
