Bilbrook 8 - Stafford Town U10 -0 Stafford Town U10 0 - Bilbrook 12 STafford started well against the league leaders. Laura Massey coming close with a shot. Great battling from all players on the pitch. Goalkeeper Rebecca Scott pulling off some excellent saves. Player of match -Rebecca Scott __________ Barton Girls u10 1 - Stafford Town U10 2 Stafford started positively with a shot straight away from Abbie Brown. More soon followed from Laura Massey and Josie Woodward. After a corner for town, midfielder Leila Trussler was on hand to shoot through the keepers legs to make it 1-0. Another goal soon followed from Abbie Brown after some excellent passing from Laura Massey. Barton began to get back into the game and scored their first goal of the season. Barton still continued to push forward but great play from defender Safiya Hay-Khan stopping any shots on goal. Player of the match - Safiya Hay-Khan Wyrley Juniors 8 - Stafford Town 0 Town started well, however Wyrley were quicker to the ball and won more challenges. Abbie Brown came close to scoring a consolation goal, however it went through the hole in the net, therefore the referee did not give it. Players of the match Leia Whitfield and Josie Woodward for their battling in midfield throughout the match. ______ Stafford Town U10s 0 - Chasetown U10s 1 Stafford played well and were unlucky to score with shots from Abbie Brown and Laura Massey, Player of the match - Leila Trussler _____ Stafford Town U10 Girls - 6 Hednesford Town Belles 0 Stafford Girls started with much more confidence in their second game of the season. This showed as Stafford dominated the first half. Laura Massey was first to score after she ran half the length of the pitch to score into the left hand corner. Laura was on for her second however the Hednesford keeper saved for the ball to fall to the feet of Abbie Brown to make it 2-0. There were moments in th first half where Stafford werent concentrating, the Hednesford striker was one on one with Rebecca Scott Staffords keeper, Rebecca bravely challenging the striker to win the ball. Half time 2-0 Second half saw changes so all Stafford players had played, Laura Massey netting for Town within minutes of the re-start. Abbie Brown was the scorer of Stafford's fourth goal after another winding run from Laura Massey followed by a perfect pass for Abbie to smash into the back of the net. Abbie repayed the favour and was the creator for Laura's third goal with an identical move to make it 5-0. Abbie then also got her hattrick after lots of teamwork throughout the pitch. Leila Trussler and Josie Woodward worked extremely hard in midfield and also came close to scoring near the end of the game. Final Score 6-0 to Stafford, Player of the match - Laura Massey ------------------------------------------------ 20.09.08 - Burntwood Phoenix 9 - Stafford Town 2 Burntwood were a much stronger and experienced team, this showed, the half time score 6-0 however Stafford heads didnt go down. Some spectacular goals were scored from the opposing team. Town came out stronger in the second half with Abbie Brown hitting the net. Laura Massey also created many opportunities for Town, after breaking through the Burntwood Defence Laura was one on one with the keeper, lauras brave challenge left the ball to fall at the feet of Abbie Brown to get her second and fourth goal in 2 games. Lots of defensive work to be done in training! Player of the match - Rebecca Scott -------------------------------------------- Stafford Town under 10 girls -2 Hednesford Town under 11 girls -2 This was the first match for the newly formed Stafford Town under 10 girls against older opposition. Stafford started the better team, the midfield of Leila Trussler and Abbie Brown got the ball to striker Josie Woodward, Josie providing an excellent pass for Abbie Brown to score her first goal for the team. Stafford held on but Hednesford battled well, having numerous shots however goalkeeper Rebecca Scott was on hand to keep towns lead. Defenders Chelsea Ray, Collette Burton and Safiya Hay-Khan were working hard and putting in important tackles. Just before half time, Hednesford scored with a quality long range shot beating the keeper. Half time 1-1 Hednesford came out even stronger and scored again to put them into the lead. Strikers Laura Massey and Lorna Mitchell created chances but the Hednesford keeper was on form. Leia Whitfield also worked hard in midfield winning most of her challenges and passing it around well. A Penalty was awarded to Stafford for a deliberate hand ball in the area. Laura Massey was the taker, however the goal keeper stopped it, only for the ball to fall to the feet of goal scorer Abbie Brown to get her second of the game. An excellent performance from Stafford Town, the girls should be very proud of themselves. Final score 2-2.
