Match Reports 2009/10
Lichfield City 0 Stafford Town U13 Girls 9 Another excellent performance saw Stafford overwhelm Lichfield with some great attacking football, as Becky Dalton and Charlotte Farrington particularly impressed down the wings. Becky notched up four goals, Lacey May Smith scored a hat trick and Charlotte Farrington and Kamara Waters each scored once. Not to be outdone, the defence kept another clean sheet, with player of the match Amy Hancox directing the play from the centre. South Staffordshire Young Women’s League Stafford Town U13 Girls 1 Penkridge 0 In a close game Stafford Town girls ran out worthy winners thanks to a goal scored directly from a corner by player of the match Lacey May Smith. It was a good all round team performance with Amy Hancox in the centre of defence outstanding in the second half. Stafford held on for a deserved win and move into second spot. Stafford Town U13 Girls 13 Lichfield City 0 After last week’s opening 4-1 away victory to Norton Canes, Stafford began their home campaign against visiting Lichfield. The Stafford girls were simply too strong in all departments, Lacey May Smith scoring in the very first attack and notching her hat trick inside the first twenty minutes. Lacey and Kamara Walters, her strike partner, ensured that Stafford were 11-0 up at half time, with Lacey adding another hat trick and Kamara scoring four. A great save by keeper Bryony Sheavills kept out Lichfield’s sole effort on goal and Amelia Boswell capped an excellent all round display with a goal before the break. Lichfield proved difficult to break down for the first twenty minutes of the second half, with Stafford becoming a little complacent, not playing their passing game which had provided such dividends in the first half. It took a well struck penalty from Lacey May Smith to add to the score and Becky Dalton made it thirteen with a good effort which curled into the top left hand corner. Stafford’s defence was not to be outdone and they all played well, Sally Leese deservedly winning player of the match for a faultless display. Stafford Town U13 Girls 4 Norton Canes 1 The game started very well with both teams putting in lots of effort and 50/50 possession of the ball. 15 minutes into the first half Stafford Town decided to knuckle down and put more work into the game, which resulted in a super goal from Anna Louise Carnell going straight down the middle and straight past the keeper. This gave the girls the drive they needed and after some really good defending the ball made it back into their possession. The ball was then taken down the right wing, fed into the centre and a powerful shot from Lacey May Smith flew into the top right corner. At the end of the first half Stafford were very happy and looking forward to scoring more goals. The start of the second half and Stafford Town made some really good passes keeping the game simple and keeping main possession of the ball. This resulted in Lacey May Smith scoring a second goal 10 minutes into the second half. The girls kept on defending well when possession was lost and 20 minutes into the second half Charlotte Farrington made a lovely run from the right wing into the centre and finished with an excellent shot past the keepers hands and into the back of the net. The last 5 minutes of the game led to Norton scoring a goal over the top of the keeper making the final score 4-1 to Stafford town. It was an excellent start to the season and an excellent score that should be continued all through the season. Player of the Match goes to Lacey May Smith.
